Thanks SKB, That does help with some of the "recommendations" we get from some other sources.  I point to one line :
Caffeinated drinks are widely mistaken as being poor at hydrating us because of a belief that they have a diuretic effect on our water balance.
This was what Kathy was told by a health care professional. 
I have also seen the recommendation to "drink when you are thirsty" as a solution.  Because I worked for years in the desert that just did not work.  If you waited until you were thirsty it was often too late to prevent dangerous problems when it was over 100° F.  Also with older people, my MIL has a problem with dehydration and needs to be constantly reminded to drink water.  She just isn't thirsty.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with LCHF diet.
